But while Top Gear leads the way for BBC 2 and Prison Break and Grey’s Anatomy are doing the business for Channel 5, the real battle is raging between ITV’s Dancing On Ice and BBC 1’s Comic Relief Does Fame Academy.

Even the recent premium rate phone line scandal hasn’t quelled your online interest in ITV’s celebrity skate-off as the show, hosted by Phillip Schofield and current search fave Holly Willoughby, has glided into Hotlist’s Top 5 TV searches and remained there for the past three weeks, averaging an impressive 1,217 daily queries.

Rival show Fame Academy, despite its relatively short two week run, is not far behind as its online popularity has received a boost from your associated searches for Red Nose Day and Comic Relief itself. Hosted by Irish comic Patrick Kielty and Oscars anchor Claudia Winkleman, the show’s diverse collection of celebrity crooners is currently racking up an average of 1,067 daily searches.

With both shows reaching their respective conclusions at the end of this week, the battle for search supremacy looks set to intensify. The elimination of Emmerdale’s Emily Symons left rugby star Kyran Bracken, actress Clare Buckfield and TV host Duncan James to contest Dancing On Ice’s grand final.

Back at the Academy, Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon and comedian Mel Giedroyc were the most recent evictees. And while Hotlist's texts have been squarely in support of Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray to win the coveted title, he’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Ray Stubbs, Heartbeat star Tricia Penrose, professional lunatic Tara Palmer Tomkinson and overall favourite Shaun Williamson.
