Nicolas Cage doppelganger dupes Real Madrid

Find photos of Nicolas Cage lookalike Paolo Calabresi with Live Search (Image © AP Photo/Evan Agostini)An Italian TV presenter tricked Spanish football giants Real Madrid into lavishing him with VIP treatment at a recent Champions League game by pretending to be one of the world’s biggest movie stars.

TV prankster and Nicolas Cage-lookalike Paolo Calabresi enjoyed the red carpet treatment at Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with AS Roma after fooling club officials into believing he was the Face/Off and Con Air star.

Cage-lookalike Calabresi watched the crucial 2nd leg game from the director’s viewing area in Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Spanish newspaper Marca revealed that he was taken into the home dressing room after the game. He was even photographed being presented with a personalised Real shirt by club president Ramon Calderon.

Calabresi planned his stunt by using the name of an American agency responsible for arranging a similar Bernabeu appearance by Rambo star Sylvester Stallone. Last season, the Bernabeu was also graced by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes who travelled to Madrid to watch the culmination of David Beckham’s La Liga career.

Despite the success of his stunt, Calabresi has some way to go to match the capers of top sports hoaxer Karl “Fat Neck” Power. At a 2001 Champions League game against Bayern Munich, Power sneaked onto the field resplendent in his Manchester United and appeared in the pre-game photo standing next to a bemused Andy Cole.

Months later, Power entertained a Headingley test match crowd by walking out to bat in full cricket regalia at the fall of an English wicket. After removing his helmet and revealing his true identity, he left the field to a standing ovation. Just to cement his reputation, Power also went on to play tennis on Wimbledon’s Centre Court prior to a Tim Henman match, perform an on-field Haka during an England vs Italy Six Nations clash and beat F1 legend Michael Schumacher to the winners podium at the British Grand Prix.
