The success of global movie franchises and books has led to many fictional characters making regular Hotlist chart appearances. Join us as we count down, in traditional Miss World-style reverse order, the Top 5 most searched for fictional men. Our Top 5 chart has been compiled from your searches on MSN UK and Live Search between December 1 2006 and May 18 2007.

5. Mr Bean - From UK TV fave to global film franchise, Rowan Atkinson’s all-but-silent portrayal of Mr Bean won the bumbling buffoon a degree of search success. Online interest peaked around the release of Mr Bean’s Holiday in UK cinemas back in March and the character continues to record an average of 545 daily searches.

4. Borat - Sacha Baron Cohen’s comic creation rocketed to Hotlist success upon the release of the controversial but enormously successful Borat mockumentary movie in late 2006. The movie’s popularity propelled Kazakhstan’s finest export into the Hotlist and led to Baron Cohen himself to be named among Time magazine's 100 most influential world figures.

3. James Bond - Controversy and complaint may have dogged Daniel Craig after he was chosen to replace erstwhile 007 Pierce Brosnan but such criticism ceased upon the release of Casino Royale. A sterling performance from Craig, a glitzy London premiere and product placement from which you simply couldn’t possibly escape sent James Bond into Hotlist’s upper echelons throughout December 2006 and made him your 3rd most searched for fictional male.

2. Rocky Balboa - Even at the age of 60, the Italian Stallion simply couldn’t resist one last big screen fight. Over thirty years on from the first Rocky movie, Sylvester Stallone donned the trunks for the final time and ensured Rocky Balboa got one last shot at Hotlist glory. Sly’s whistlestop tour of England, culminating in a highly entertaining on-pitch appearance at Everton’s Goodison Park, was enough for Rocky to edge past 007 into 2nd place.

1. Harry Potter - The teenage wizard, created by JK Rowling and bought to life on-screen by Daniel Radcliffe, is a perennial search favourite, averaging over 2,500 search queries per day. The young conjurer’s online popularity looks set to continue as fans eagerly anticipate the release of the fifth and final Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, on July 11.
