Posh Spice's ongoing quest for global domination has ensured that she tops our list of top searched WAGs. Posh has endured a rollercoaster ride of positive and negative press over the past six months but all of it has got you searching for her. The Spice Girls reunion and her cameo appearance in Ugly Betty were undoubted successes but being named the world’s worst dressed celebrity by style guru Mr Blackwell quickly bought her back down to earth.

2 – Cheryl Cole
Like Posh, Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole bucks the stereotypical WAG trend by being successful in her own right. However, her recent search success owes much to the reported extra-marital dalliances of her hubby Ashley Cole and the subsequent scrutiny to which their marriage has been subjected. The Sun reported that the Chelsea star had been unfaithful to Cheryl with North London hairdresser Aimee Watson. Several other women then came forward and claimed they had also spent time with Ashley. Cheryl moved out of the couples’ home for two weeks before returning and laying down a new set of ground rules for Ashley.
3 – Coleen McLoughlin
Is Coleen the quintessential WAG? Intense media interest in her fiancé Wayne Rooney made her a celebrity in her own right even though she only appeared to spend a lot of time shopping. Now, her success as a business woman is such that she reportedly earned more money than Wayne over the last 12 months. According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the pair are Britain’s richest young couple aged under 30. In addition to her celebrity endorsements, book deals and magazine columns, she is currently presenting reality TV show Coleen’s Real Women.

4 – Danielle Lloyd
Her controversial stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house may have accounted for her initial search success but the online interest in Danielle Lloyd has since been sustained solely by more standard WAG behaviour. Simply put, there’s no-one out there trying harder to land a footballer. First up, there was the on-off relationship with Teddy Sheringham. Then she was linked with Marcus Bent and Armand Traore. Most recently, she began dating Jermain Defoe around the time the Portsmouth star ditched longstanding WAG Charlotte Meares.

5 – Abbey Clancy
Abbey’s first brush with WAG infamy came during the World Cup in 2006 when she was sent home from Baden Baden in disgrace following a tabloid drug scandal. Somehow her relationship with beanpole striker Peter Crouch survived the shame and she retained her WAG status. Things have improved for Abbey in recent months. She is the current face of Euromillions and, along with Sarah Harding and Gemma Atkinson, models for lingerie firm Ultimo. She also appeared in reality TV show Hell’s Kitchen but was voted off after a war of words with Emmerdale star Adele Silva.
