The French actress/singer got you searching after accepting a marriage proposal from long-term boyfriend and perennial Hotlist Movies favourite Johnny Depp.
It’s thought the Pirates of the Caribbean star was prompted to pop the question following the recent illness to the couple’s daughter Lily-Rose. The 7 year-old was rushed to hospital in March this year and, having been diagnosed with E Coli food poisoning, lay in critical condition for nine days. Depp refused to return to the set of his latest movie Sweeney Todd until she was out of danger.
Originally a child star in her native France, Vanessa came to prominence in the UK aged 14 when her single Joe le Taxi became an international hit. She went on to release several albums including a collaboration with Lenny Kravitz and also fronted an ad campaign for Chanel in 1991. Having starred in several movies in the 1990s, her most recent film outing came when she voiced a character in the French version of the movie adaptation of The Magic Roundabout.
Vanessa and Johnny met in 1998 in Paris when Depp was shooting the film The Ninth Gate and the couple have remained consistently publicity shy throughout their relationship. However, the phenomenal success of Pirates and regular appearances at premieres have secured their search popularity at the expense of their privacy.
This week’s reports that the pair are to wed made them Hotlist’s highest daily climbers. Vanessa recorded 2,620 searches to claim 8th place on Hotlist’s Top Search chart while searches for Johnny increased by 35%.
Their wedding will reportedly take place this summer in a chapel within the grounds of their home in Plan de la Tour, a village in the south of France. Expect bride and groom to climb the Hotlist chart again come their wedding day.
