Miss England shocked by anti-social networking

20-year-old Miss England beauty queen Georgia Horsley discovered her fake profile on the Myspace website after using a search engine. She was surprised to discover a profile of herself that inaccurately listed her likes and dislikes, suggested her favourite hobby was drinking and described her overall mood as “horny”.

Georgia’s fake profile claimed she doesn’t read and that she idolized celebrity Katie Price who, after a chance meeting, convinced her to pursue a career in modeling. The beauty queen confirmed that she’d never met the former I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here star, let alone spoken to her.

Georgia will be representing England in the Miss World 2007 in December. She claimed it was possible that the fake profile could have been posted by a jealous British rival hellbent on ruining her chances at the globally televised beauty pageant. Organisers of the Miss England contest are hiring a private investigator to try to track down the culprit.

Beauty pageant controversies

Georgia is not the first Miss England to be mired in controversy. 2004 winner Danielle Lloyd went on to triumph in the 2006 Miss Great Britain contest but was, erm, stripped of that title when her relationship with one of the competition’s judges, ageless football star Teddy Sheringham, was alleged to have begun before the pageant took place.

On a global scale, accusations flew at the 2007 Miss Universe competition in Mexico after Japanese winner Riyo Mori was crowned champion. Just minutes after receiving her tiara and sash, the triumphant Miss Mori vehemently denied allegations that a leading Japanese had offered the Mexican government a cash inducement to ensure her victory.
