Having seemingly taken several chapters from the Britney Spears celebrity meltdown handbook, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is bouncing back from her recent high profile arrest. The 21 year old Mean Girls star was arrested for drink driving and cocaine possession by Santa Monica police in the early hours of July 24. It was her second high profile arrest in as many months.

But less than a week after her police mugshot graced newspapers around the world, Ms Lohan is back in the news looking immeasurably less haggard after becoming the face for a new fashion collection for New York designer Jill Stuart. The ad campaign, in which Lindsay is pictured posing in a black sequin dress, seems sure to propel her back among Hotlist’s most searched stars.

Film turkeys, arrests and rehab

Lindsay’s recent ups and downs are reflective of her chequered career. Her 2006 movie Just My Luck was savaged by critics while her behaviour during the filming of Robert F Kennedy biopic Bobby led to co-star William H Macy branding her disrespectful. On the plus side, her performance in A Prairie Home Companion was highly praised and readers of Maxim voted her to the top spot in the magazine's Hot 100 chart of top female stars.

Away from the silver screen, Lindsay’s party lifestyle made her one of your most searched celebrities. A trip to London last November led to many late nights at top celebrity haunts and sparked a relationship with reality TV lothario Calum Best.

But six months and a driving charge later, Lohan was admitted to the Promises rehab clinic in Hollywood to help her overcome alcohol addiction. As she awaits an August court appearance for her latest misdemeanour, it looks like Lindsay’s rollercoaster life will keep you searching for some time to come.
