Katherine Heigl, a former model who has also starred in hit movies Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, came out on top in Askmen.com’s annual survey to reveal the Top 99 most desirable women of the year. Despite her recent movie success, Heigl is most closely associated with TV hospital drama Grey’s Anatomy. She has played Dr Izzie Stevens in the acclaimed show since 2005 and has won a best supporting actress Emmy for her performances.

The best of the rest

Over five million people voted in the poll that aims to find the famous females that best embody the most-sought after qualities of a would-be wife or girlfriend. Attributes such as intelligence, humour and charisma are judged as important as looks.

But if Askmen.com’s voters did look beyond physical appearances, the poll’s results suggest they didn’t look too far as the Top 10 contained three Victoria’s Secret models. Alessandra Ambrosio finished as runner up while Marisa Miller and Adriana Lima placed 9th and 10th respectively.

The remainder of Askmen.com’s Top 10 was dominated by renowned Hollywood actresses. British star Kate Beckinsale ranked third narrowly pipping Bond Girl Eva Mendes and Fantastic Four star Jessica Alba for the final podium spot. Scarlett Johansson placed sixth while The Illusionist star Jessica Biel finished 7th. The only pop star to make the Top 10 was R’n’B diva Rihanna in 8th position.
