Chart-topping star Cheryl Cole polled a whopping 43% of the total votes in a survey conducted by dating website PARSHIP.co.uk. Voters were asked to name the football WAG they thought would be the most desirable dream date.

The Girls Aloud star bagged the crown ahead of fellow WAGs Alex Curran, Louise Owen and Victoria Beckham.

PARSHIP’s survey also asked their football-loving male users to vote for their favourite icon in the beautiful game. In a shock move sure to prompt some colourful training ground banter, cheeky Chelsea chappy Joe Cole claimed the top spot ahead of talismanic Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Surprisingly, there was no place on the podium for long-term gay football icon David Beckham. The former England captain may well have slipped off the gaydar since his big money move to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy but can at least console himself with the knowledge that uber-celebrities Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes remain regular attendees at his matches.
