St Mungo's, London’s largest homelessness charity, asked for donations of cologne and other toiletries which will be passed on to residents at its hostels.

Calum, son of football legend George Best and former Playboy model Angela Macdonald-James, had probably hoped to follow in the footsteps of David and Victoria Beckham, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez who all successfully launched their own fragrances.

Unfortunately for Calum, St Mungo’s received more bottles of his signature scent than any other product.

The sweet smell of success

While Calum resides at the foot of the perfume premier league, another football-related celebrity’s scent has taken the public by storm. Coleen McLoughlin, girlfriend of Manchester United star striker Wayne Rooney, has reportedly sold over 500,000 bottles of her Coleen X fragrance since its launch in July 2007.

The sweet-smelling success of Coleen’s perfume helped boost her earnings in 2007 to an amazing £15 million, a figure that easily makes her football’s richest WAG and, more surprisingly, surpasses the earnings of her football star fiancé.
